Record Breaker Natalie Coughlin
So at the 2008 Summer Olympics, this American swimmer became the first American woman to win 6 medals during one Olympic Games. Oh and the first woman to win two consecutive golds for the 100 meter backstroke. Then, she won bronze at the 2012 games. Did we mention she’s a 12-time Olympic medalist? Yeah, no big deal.
Lip-Sync Moment
What appeared to be an adorable performance of the Chinese national anthem at the Beijing Olympics, apparently wasn’t so. Turns out that the nine year old, Lin Miaoke was lip-syncing. Lin Miaoke did not have a nice enough voice to sing, so they decided. Yet Yang Peiyi, the real singer who was only seven years old, was not considered beautiful enough to take the spotlight. Organizers of the Beijing ceremony tried to defend this absurd move, but the world was appalled.
