Guy Fieri may not have the fanciest taste, but he’s an awesome dad and family man. Recently, the Food Network star surprised his 17-year-old son Ryder with a used truck after Ryder drove his grandma’s beat-up Chrysler minivan for a whole year. Last September, Guy said he wouldn’t buy Ryder a car until he drove for one year without any tickets or accidents. Well, Ryder did it!

Fieri explained that he wanted his son to practice being a good driver before getting a car. He told People magazine: “I’m not buying Ryder a car, and I refuse to let him buy a car, until he spends one year with no tickets, no accidents, driving the minivan.”
Guy revealed that he set up an awesome scavenger hunt on his North Carolina ranch for Ryder to find his gift. The last clue was in the pool, tied to a pipe. The boys tried to use the pool skimmer, but it didn’t work, so they all jumped in their boxers to retrieve it. The clue revealed that Ryder was getting the truck he wanted, but he had to pay for half of it with his earnings from working on his dad’s shows. The truck was previously owned by his older brother Hunter, who was buying their dad’s old truck.

Guy and his wife Lori made the truck special by detailing it and making it Ryder’s own. They had a few of Guy’s friends honk the horn when they drove up the driveway, and Ryder was over the moon with excitement. He explained: “We had taken the truck from Hunter, taken it to the detail shop, had it all gone through and made it Ryder’s truck and a couple of my buddies come driving up the driveway and honked the horn. He lost it. I’ve never seen him happier about a gift he was getting.”
Guy and Lori have two sons, Hunter and Ryder, and a nephew Jules. They’ve always tried to raise their kids to stay grounded, even with Guy’s celebrity status. The Fieri family is very close-knit, and Guy is proud of how his kids have remained grounded despite their unique experiences.
It’s hard to understand why anyone would dislike Guy Fieri. He may not dress the fanciest, but he’s a great parent and gives back to charity. Let’s all be on Team Fieri!
