Pup ‘N’ Taco was founded in 1956 in California and was known for its burgers, hot dogs, tacos, tostadas, and pastrami sandwiches. It was franchised around California and New Mexico, but by 1984, was bought out by Taco Bell. The last two locations stayed open in Albuquerque, New Mexico until 2010 before they shuttered for good.

Burger Chef

Long before McDonald’s had the Happy Meal, Burger Chef was the first fast food joint to add in a kid’s toy to the meal. They even unsuccessfully sued McDonald’s for including toys in their kid’s meals. Even though Burger Chef reached 1200 locations around the country, it was sold in 1982 and eventually closed down completely by 1996.
