Named After A Bowling Alley

Now, what sparked their name change from The Four Lovers to The Four Seasons? The band auditioned for a bowling alley in 1961, but didn’t get the gig. So, as Bob Gaudio said, “We figured we’ll come out of this [the audition] with SOMETHING, so we took the name of the bowling alley.” Thus, the band became The Four Seasons, named after that Union, New Jersey bowling alley.
