In 1953, Wagner starred in Titanic opposite actress Barbara Stanwyck, who was 23 years his senior. The two fell for one another and went on to have a 4 year relationship. However, the studio panicked and worried this would damage his image. They quickly paired him off with the then-18 year old Natalie Wood, who herself had already experienced a lifetime of relationships.
