A few short months later, Simon was unpacking boxes so that he could spend his first night in the home. After a tiring weekend, he climbed into his bed. While he was calculating the shorter distance to his job, he set his alarm and heard a strange noise.

Trying hard not to breathe and make a sound, he heard it again, and it seemed like it was outside. It was muted and dull, similar to gravel scraping metal. He got up to look out the window but didn’t see anything and climbed back into bed, not realizing that something was shifting under the home.
