During the 1960’s Mister Ed became one of the most popular sitcoms. Who didn’t love Wilbur Post and his talking horse, Mister Ed?! With Alan Young and Connie Hines as the stars, the show was a hit. Even today, it’s still referenced in mainstream media, but there’s so much the world doesn’t know about the show.
Thanks To Studebaker
Hard to believe, but CBS refused to run the show in 1960! Luckily, Studebaker Automobile Company took the plunge and sponsored Mister Ed instead. They bought the show and put it into syndication. After seeing what a hit Mister Ed was, CBS ended up buying it a year after.
Voice Of Mister Ed
Only later on did the production team finally reveal who the voice behind the horse was! Alas, just at the end of the series, they revealed it was the Western actor Allan Lane or Rocky playing Mister Ed.
