Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were the biggest child stars of the 90’s, and it all began when they were just six months old. After their mother’s friend told her she should submit a photo of the girls to a talent agent, just three months later they were quickly signed onto Full House, on which they were cast as Michelle Tanner. By the time the twins were 9 years old, they were the biggest names in young Hollywood and already boasted a net worth of $10 million. They grew up in front of our eyes in the spotlight, but as of late, have rarely been seen. What have they been up to? This is their story.

Working Hard

Mary-Kate and Ashley were working full time from the days on Full House until they were fully grown adults. They appeared as the main characters in 36 direct to video films. These movies were full of adventure and were exciting for many young fans to watch at the time. By age 6, they became Hollywood’s youngest producers of all time. When they turned 18, they headed their own production company.

Double The Work

In an interview with Marie Claire, Mary-Kate went on to reveal that she felt like their work during their childhood years amounted to their being “little monkey performers.” She also said that when she looks at photos of herself when she was younger, she feels a complete disconnect. The reason why the two were hired was not only because they were adorable, but because babies are only allowed to work for 20 minutes at a time in Hollywood, having twins around meant double the work being able to be done in one day.
