Important as his hat was to the character, the other signature costume feature would have to be his bullwhip. It was so crucial to the character, they brought over 30 bullwhips for the movies. You could find whips ranging from six to 16 feet long!

Perhaps, it was a superstitious move or just for his own comfort, but Spielberg had the extras do something very specific during the scene where Indy steals the diary back. When they did the “Sieg Heil” salute he had them cross their fingers with their other hands that rested behind their backs.
