Karl realized that the cashier’s bad attitude would be tolerated by her manager since she herself had a bad attitude as well. He rejected the idea that he was the problem in the situation. Her response was not expected at all.

As Karl explained the situation to her, a cook came out to the register and told her that he is demanding that Karl be completely from the line as he was not willing to serve him. The manager laughed at this response.
