Sadly, while they were only in the third season of Mister Ed, actor Larry Keating passed away. You know Keating as the neighbor Roger Addison. However, they simply replaced his character with another neighbor, Colonel Gordon Kirkwood. Kirkwood was played by actor Leon Ames.

During an interview once, Alan Young said they needed to use peanut butter to get the horse, Bamboo Harvester, to move his lips and appear to speak. However, Alan Young later recanted this statement, claiming he said this in order to not disappoint the children with how the talking was really done…
