Martha knew that she had limited time, so she tried to casually ask them if Holly was adopted. Immediately, Holly’s parents’ expressions became hardened, and she felt like they were trying to hide something from her. Though she was persistent, they did not reveal anything to Martha, but this did not take away from her determination to find out the truth.

In the end, Holly’s parents relented and told her that Holly was adopted, but they never told Holly. They wanted to know how she knew, and they were visibly shaken at this point. They wanted to do everything in their power to protect their daughter, both on her wedding day and in general.
